Brand new blog: Things teachers appreciate

Hi!

I'm Lindsay.  I teach first grade.  I started this blog to let all of you moms know what teachers appreciate.  Here's the first thing:

I know that Valentine's Day comes around once a year and everyone feels compelled to send his/her child's teacher some cheap CVS purchased chocolate.  Or even better: some cheesy out of the box "for the teacher" valentine.  I am the queen of last minute things but it's just so not needed.

I get it, I spend all day with your child and you want me to know that you, as parents, appreciate me, but I would greatly appreciate if you just kept the cash and sent a note from your child.

I, like most people I know, am fighting a constant battle with my weight.  No need to send extra calories.  It just makes me feel badly when I A. Eat it or B. Throw it away because I am fighting aforementioned weight.

Want to make your child's teacher feel appreciated?
You don't need to.  We spend all day with your child.  That's all we need.  Please stop sending things to eat :)

Yours,
LLR

I will be updating with more info about what teachers truly appreciate.
